The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently leading in the parliamentary seats race, with 128 safe seats, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) trails behind with 92 safe seats.
The NPP’s strong performance is driven by its dominance in seven key regions: Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern, North East, and Western.
Meanwhile, the NDC’s support is concentrated in Bono East, Greater Accra, Northern, Oti, Savanna, Upper East, Upper West, Volta, and Western North.
This was contained in the latest polls conduct by Professor Smart Sarpong, an Associatie Professor of Statistics and Director of Research and Innovation at KNUST.
Presidential Race
In the presidential race, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP holds a 49.1% lead, followed closely by John Mahama of the NDC with 45.8%.
Nana Kwame Bediako and John Alan Kyerematen are trailing behind with 2.2% and 1.2% respectively.
*Constituency Breakdown*
There are 276 constituency seats up for grabs, with 56 constituencies still highly contested.
Both parties are likely to win an equal share of these seats.
Notably, six independent candidates in Sunyani East, Asante Akyem Central, Asante Akyem North, La-Dade Kotopon, Suhum, and Agona West failed to secure enough votes.
Road to Victory
To secure a decisive victory, parties must focus on consolidating their gains in leading regions and improving performance in other areas.
With all 276 constituency seats still in play, parties will need to rally their supporters and strategize to emerge victorious.
However, if the NPP maintains its momentum, it’s projected to secure at least 148 seats in parliament.
