According to a report from GhanaWeb. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for the arrest of a presenter from Wontumi Radio/TV for spreading false information about the upcoming December 7, 2024, general elections in Ghana.
According to reports, the presenter, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, claimed that the presidential election would be held on different days, with the first day being December 7, 2024. He alleged that on this day, only the first seven candidates on the ballot paper, including the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would be voted for.
Nana Asiedu further claimed that voters who fail to cast their ballots for Dr. Bawumia on December 7, 2024, would not be allowed to vote for other candidates on subsequent days.
The NDC has condemned Nana Asiedu’s statements, describing them as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public. Twum Barima, a member of the NDC’s communication team, expressed his shock and disappointment over the presenter’s remarks.
“I was at a programme with IGP Dampare and said that what he frowns on the most is misinformation. If he is listening to this or the police administration has heard this, they should go and arrest this idiot,” Twum Barima said.
The NDC is urging the authorities to take immediate action against Nana Asiedu to prevent the spread of false information that could disrupt the electoral process.
