Former members of the Movement for Change have voiced their disapproval of Alan Kyerematen’s recent criticism of former President John Agyekum Kufuor as reported by Ghana Web on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Their reaction follows Kufuor’s endorsement of NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the upcoming elections.
In a press conference, the group accused Kyerematen of displaying selfishness and ingratitude, emphasizing the pivotal role Kufuor played in his political rise.
“Members of the media, it is instructive to note that the sudden rise of Kyerematen in the Ghanaian political circles hinged on President Kufuor’s magnanimity, and it is an act of ingratitude for Alan to go that tangent,” their statement read.
The former members highlighted the significance of gratitude in Ghanaian culture, urging Kyerematen to avoid actions that could alienate the people of Asanteman.
“In our upbringing, we have grown to understand that gratitude is part of our culture. Again, Kyerematen should know that ‘we don’t bite the hands that feed us,’” the group noted.
They further accused Kyerematen of selfishness and greed, warning that his recent behavior could harm his reputation and political standing.
The group also questioned the timing of his attacks on Kufuor, hinting at a possible collaboration with the NDC based on recent developments.
The statement concluded by urging Kyerematen to rebuild his reputation and avoid unnecessary conflicts.
The group reaffirmed their commitment to defending their values and resisting any attempts to intimidate or silence their voices.
