Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has responded sharply to criticisms from Alan Kyerematen against former President John Agyekum Kufuor over his endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer in the upcoming presidential elections.
Nana B, the National Organiser of the NPP, described Alan’s reaction as not only disappointing but also revealing of his true character and intentions.
Speaking during a phone interview with Lawson TV, Nana B recounted the instrumental role Kufuor played in Alan’s political ascent.
He pointed out that during his tenure as president, Kufuor entrusted Alan with significant responsibilities in his cabinet, giving him a platform to build his political career.
“I am utterly surprised by Alan’s reaction. How can you expect unwavering support from someone whose party you’ve chosen to abandon?” Nana B questioned, referring to Alan’s decision to break away from the NPP to form his own party and run against his former colleagues in the December 7 elections.
According to Nana B, Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Bawumia reflects loyalty to the party that made them all.
He suggested Alan’s actions amounted to betrayal, stating, “It is through the NPP that Alan Kyerematen earned his name in Ghanaian politics. For him to turn his back on those who supported him shows a lack of principle and gratitude.”Ghanaian history books
He further expressed disappointment that Alan’s behaviour has cast a shadow on his once-respected reputation within the party. “This is fitting,” Nana B added. “It has exposed Alan’s duplicity, and Ghanaians can now see his true motives.”
