Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston believes the time is not right to relieve Black Stars head coach Otto Addo of his duties.
Calls have intensified for the former Dortmund assistant coach to resign or be sacked after he failed to qualify Ghana for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 21 years.
The Black Stars finished bottom of Group F without winning a single game and lost at home to Angola and Niger.
Despite the team’s fortunes hitting an all-time low, Laryea Kingston argues that Addo should be retained to oversee the remaining 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
“If we change the coach and the technical team and bring in new faces, it will be a disaster,” Kingston told Flashscore.
“I think we should allow him to at least finish the World Cup qualifiers. Who knows? Maybe he can qualify. After that, we can make a decision as a country. So, we should give him another opportunity.”
In his five years as president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has worked with four coaches, with Otto Addo returning for a second stint.
The Executive Council of the GFA will meet on Wednesday to discuss the team’s struggles.
