The stage is set for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with 24 nations confirmed for the tournament. Mozambique clinched the final qualification spot with a dramatic 2-1 win over Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday.

Scheduled for December 2025, the competition will take place in Morocco, which qualifies automatically as the host nation. The tournament promises a spectacular showcase of African football, featuring a mix of former champions, perennial contenders, and emerging nations ready to shine on the continental stage.

Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire will be joined by past winners Senegal, Algeria, and Egypt, who all showcased their dominance during the qualifiers. Other powerhouse teams like Nigeria, Tunisia, and South Africa further bolster the tournament’s elite line-up.

The qualifiers also marked the return of nations like DR Congo, Angola, and Gabon, while Botswana’s qualification after 12 years highlights the increasing competitiveness of African football.

Sudan and Benin secured their places on the final day of qualifiers, while earlier rounds saw Zambia, Mali, Zimbabwe, and Comoros book their spots. Tanzania and Mozambique earned their places after intense campaigns, underlining the depth and quality across the continent.
