Traditional Council confirms destoolment of Kwahumanhene

The Kwawu Traditional Council has destooled Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II as Kwahumanhene, citing misconduct.

The action follows allegations of extortion during his tenure as Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank’s (ADB) board.

A customer of the bank, Collins Darkwa, petitioned the Office of the President, alleging that Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II extorted a significant amount of money from him in exchange for a GH₵12 million loan.

According to the Council, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II’s actions have caused significant reputational damage to Kwahu.

Following his destoolment, Abetifihene, Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III, has been appointed as the Acting President of the Kwawu Traditional Council.

At a Council meeting in Kwawu Abetifi, the acting president confirmed that they have accepted the decision of the kingmakers and pledged to take good care of Kwawuman.
