SG Mall Opens In Kumasi

A NEW shopping mall, Semanhyia Golden (SG) Mall, has officially been inaugurated in Kumasi to give the public more shopping options as well as provide employment opportunities for hundreds of people.

Located in the vicinity of Bomso, Ayigya and very close to the Kwame Nkrumah University of science and Technology (KNUST), SG Mall is a one-shop destination that offers something for everyone.

The expansive modern mall has injected new life into the community, drawing crowds from across the city with its impressive array of shopping, dining and entertainment options.

It boasts of a large supermarket stocked with groceries and household essentials, making it convenient for shoppers to do their weekly shopping.

Owned by John Akortsin Arhin, affectionately known as Nana Semanhyia, the mall has a retail space of 10,000 m2 with parking for over 200 cars and accommodates over 55 line shops, a skylight indoor pool, bars and pubs and many others.

Inaugurating the mall Oheneyere Akosua Serwaa Oheneafrewo, queenmother of Ayigya commended the Chief Executive Officer of SG Mall and his team for establishing this multipurpose complex in her jurisdiction, contributing to the development of the Ayigya community and Kumasi city as a whole.

“We have witnessed a significant increase in economic activities in the community as a result of the Mall. It is my hope that this gathering will inspire more people to emulate him thereby creating more jobs for the youth,” the traditional said.

Nana Semanhyia, the CEO of the Semanhyia Group of Companies, in his remarks, stated that the mall was established to provide job opportunities for young people and also contribute to the growth of the Ghanaian economy.

In her remarks, Gloria Temmah Gambrah who represented the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, said government recognised the important role malls play in creating jobs and generating revenue for the local economy and for the country in general.

Abena Amo, Deputy Director, Standards and Quality Assurance of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), pledged GTA’s readiness to market SG Mall to become an international business hub that can showcase the rich Asante culture.
