Prof. Gyampo Slams JA Kufour For His Alleged Partisan Posture, Accuses Him Of Betraying Alan

Professor Ransford Gyampo, a political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, has taken a swipe at Former President John Agyekum Kufour for his alleged partisan posture.

The outspoken Professor has urged the Former President to stay away from partisan politics and leverage his enviable reputation to help enhance the democracy of the country.

Gyampo’s outburst is in reaction to some comments the Former President made during his address to the nation on Sunday, November 17.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has said that Ghana’s economy will be transformed if the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is elected as president in this year’s general elections.

Mr Kufuor noted that has the potential to accelerate Ghana’s economic development. He called on Ghanaians to vote massively for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming presidential elections.

Mr Kufour’s endorsement of Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia did not sit well with Ransford Gyampo who is the President of the University of Ghana Chapter of the University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG).

In a Facebook post, Gyampo mentioned that the endorsement of Bawumia is a slap in the face of Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen who is a known friend of Mr Kufour.

He explained that the founder of the Movement for Change who is also contesting the polls as an independent candidate did not deserve such treatment given the sacrifices he made for Kufour in the past.

He cautioned the Former President to desist from publicly campaigning for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, stressing that it does not befit his status as a respected statesman.

“You have been a great statesman and some of us expect you to remain above partisan politics, at this stage in your life, when, to quote my late father, Sampson Bismark Gyampo, “you have one of your foot in the grave and the other, on a banana peel”.

Your recent comments unnecessarily betray your own beloved Alan Kyerematen who suffered many challenges in your party because of you”, his post on Facebook reads in part.
