Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has apologized to Ghanaians after Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team failed to qualify to the 2025 AFCON and did so without registering a win in the campaign.
Ghana lost 2-1 to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium to bookend a campaign that had the Black Stars lose to Sudan and Angola with the latter pair qualifying to next year’s tournament.
Former Black Stars head coach and 1982 AFCON winner with Ghana, Kwasi Appiah, led Sudan to qualify to Morocco.
This is the first time in 20 years that Ghana has missed on qualifying to compete in the continental championship after finishing bottom in Group F standings.
In a post-game presser, Otto Addo strongly pushed back on the idea of resigning from his post but went on to apologize for the disappointing qualifiers. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“I am ready to apologize. I am so sorry that we did not do well and qualify. I am sorry because I know how it feels and how Ghanaians are hurt. I am so sorry” Addo stated.
