As the countdown to Ghana’s December 7 general elections continues, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team has made it clear that they are not placing their faith in prophecies predicting election outcomes. This comes after some pastors, in a recent meeting with National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, forecasted his victory in the polls.
Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Anthony Karbo, a senior aide to Dr. Bawumia, dismissed these declarations as mere personal opinions rather than divine revelations. Karbo stressed that the team is focused on strategy, policies, and voter engagement, choosing not to let external predictions dictate their campaign direction.
“I see these so-called prophecies as nothing more than personal predictions,” Karbo remarked. “Why are prophecies so common in Africa? You don’t hear about prophecies predicting election winners in places like China, the United States, or Germany. This phenomenon seems unique to our continent.”
Karbo further highlighted how similar predictions in the past failed to materialize, citing examples like claims surrounding Kamala Harris’s presidential bid in the United States. He questioned the logic of relying on such pronouncements and urged Ghanaians to focus on tangible plans and leadership qualities rather than unverified spiritual declarations.
The Bawumia campaign remains committed to addressing voter concerns, delivering impactful messages, and avoiding distractions. They encourage the electorate to weigh candidates based on proven competence and practical solutions for the nation’s development.
