The MTN Ghana Foundation has successfully enrolled 150 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) onto its Enterprise Support Programme.

Selected through a rigorous process involving pitch competitions and interviews in Central, Eastern, Volta, and Greater Accra Regions, the beneficiaries comprise 39 differently abled individuals, 61 women, and 50 young entrepreneurs.

The MTN Foundation’s Enterprise Support Programme empowers Ghanaian entrepreneurs through comprehensive business training and seed capital ranging from GH¢10,000 to GH¢20,000.

Participants also receive tailored training in bookkeeping, costing and pricing, branding, sales and marketing, financial literacy, digital marketing, and customer service.

As part of MTN Ghana Foundation’s commitment to fostering SME growth, this programme targets youth, women, and differently abled entrepreneurs, promoting diversity and inclusion.

At the Eastern Region onboarding ceremony, Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, MTN Ghana’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, stated: “We’re promoting inclusive and sustainable growth for entrepreneurs through the MTN SME Support Programme, contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 9.”

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to MTN for believing in them and providing capital.

Lawrence Inkoom, a sandal maker, shared: “With MTN Ghana Foundation’s support, I can now produce more sandals.”

Christine Dekator, another beneficiary from Volta Region, will expand her cassava farm and gari processing business.

Memuna Ahmed, an Eastern Region palm oil processor, welcomed the relief from current business challenges.

Launched during MTN Ghana’s 25th-anniversary celebrations, the Enterprise Support Programme aims to support 500 MSMEs over five years. Following its 2023 launch with Innohub, 140 businesses were selected from Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Western Regions.
