Takoradi, Nov. 15, GNA – As the country goes to the polls on December 7, some residents in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region have called on Ghanaians to choose a leader that can steer the affairs of the country to socio-economic prosperity.
They made the call when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) took to the streets of Takoradi to interview them about their views and expectations for the 2024 general elections.
Mr Godfred Abakah, a first-time voter, said the election was about choices, therefore, Ghanaians should choose people who were competent enough to drive the growth and development of the country.
“The development of the nation and the welfare of the citizens must be dear to the hearts of our leaders that have been given the power to rule, and so we expect nothing but the best from them,” he said.
He charged the Electoral Commission (EC) to maintain the highest form of neutrality and fairness to help protect the integrity of the elections.
He also encouraged politicians to stay true to their promises as that was what motivated constituents to cast their votes hoping to see a transformation in their lives.
Mr Kweku Nyamekye, a taxi driver, advised the electorate not to accept any form of inducements from any politician to vote for them.
He implored the youth to desist from indulging in any act that could threaten the peace of the country, saying’ “Just like previous peaceful elections held in Ghana, this year’s own should not be an exception as Ghana is known for peace.”
The streets of Sekondi-Takoradi are flooded with banners, posters, flyers, and flags of the various political parties particularly the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), with campaign activities intensifying across the metropolis.
