You’re dreaming if you think NPP has done nothing for Ashanti Region – Simon Osei-Mensah

Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah has called out critics who claim the government has neglected the Ashanti Region, describing them as “dreamers.”

He insists the region has received its fair share of development under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.

Mr Osei-Mensah highlighted improvements in road infrastructure, as well as the establishment and upgrading of education, health, and housing facilities for civil servants, as significant areas of focus since the government took office.

The Minister also pointed to efforts to improve security and sanitation in the region, asserting that the Ashanti Region has seen more development under President Akufo-Addo than previous administrations.

During a forum in Kumasi, Mr Osei-Mensah showcased various government projects and initiatives in the Ashanti Region, addressing developments in roads, education, health, and other sectors.

He discussed the progress of the Agenda 111 hospital projects, noting that work is advancing steadily in various districts, with some facilities nearing completion.

The Minister also highlighted the construction of CHPS compounds, polyclinics, and housing facilities for health workers across major communities in the Ashanti Region.

He said the government has built modern court facilities across the districts, complete with accommodation for the magistrates and judges overseeing these courts.

“These accommodations include leisure facilities for the magistrates and judges,” he said. “If someone claims the Ashanti Region hasn’t seen any development under this government, that person is either dreaming or hasn’t visited the area.”

Addressing flood prevention, Mr Osei-Mensah stated that the Ashanti Region has not experienced severe flooding in recent years due to measures taken by authorities.

He attributed the decrease in robbery incidents and the stability in the region to strong collaboration between security agencies and the hard work of the regional security council, which he described as “the best in the country.”

The Minister assured residents that the government remains committed to fulfilling its promises by focusing on critical infrastructure projects in the road, health, and education sectors across the Ashanti Region.
