Kofi Akpaloo, the Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has firmly denied recent allegations made by well-known journalist Captain Godsbrain Blessed Smart, who claimed that Akpaloo owes him money as reported by Ghana Web on Friday, November 8, 2024.
The LPG leader clarified that he never borrowed funds from Captain Smart, dismissing the allegations as entirely false.
“Does Captain Smart have money? I have been the one giving him money for his upkeep. He can’t give me money,” Akpaloo stated emphatically, expressing his frustration with the accusations.
He maintained that any claim suggesting he had relied on Captain Smart for financial assistance was baseless.
Akpaloo also raised questions about Captain Smart’s credibility, bringing up past incidents. “Ask him how many times he has been arrested for defrauding innocent people,” he challenged, referring to the journalist’s previous employment at Adom FM.
Akpaloo suggested that Smart had engaged in questionable activities, challenging him to refute these claims.
In recounting the series of events leading to the accusation, Akpaloo explained that he had organized a program and invited select individuals to attend and cover the event. He mentioned that a few uninvited guests attended the program but were not eligible for payment.
According to Akpaloo, these individuals later claimed he owed them money, which he categorically denied.
He emphasized that he never asked Captain Smart to settle any debts on his behalf, refuting Smart’s claims that he had done so.
For Akpaloo, the allegations are not only untrue but are also damaging to his reputation. “I don’t owe him anything,” he insisted, reiterating that Captain Smart’s claims are entirely unfounded.
