“I made the right decision by joining Asante Kotoko” – Emmanuel Antwi on his first Black Stars call-up

Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi has expressed his excitement following his first-ever call-up to the senior Ghana national team for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

The 24-year-old took to social media to share his joy, calling the call-up a “proud moment” in his career. “I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a very long time, and it’s a dream come true. It shows I made the right decision by joining Asante Kotoko,” he said in an interview with the club’s media.

Antwi’s selection is well-earned, following a series of impressive performances for Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League this season. He has featured in every match so far, scoring once, and playing an instrumental role in the Porcupine Warriors’ strong push for the league title.

His inclusion is part of Black Stars coach Otto Addo’s plan to bring in fresh talent ahead of the crucial qualifiers. Antwi will join local-based players Razak Simpson and Isaac Afful in the squad.

Antwi’s rise is particularly remarkable, having joined Kotoko in July after a difficult season with Great Olympics, which ended in relegation. His journey from a relegated club to the senior national team is a testament to his resilience and growth, making this call-up a significant milestone in his career.

Ghana will face Angola on November 15 in Luanda, followed by a home fixture against Niger in Accra three days later.
