A medical doctor, Dr. Erica Ntiamoah Mensah, has debunked assertions that alcohol has some benefits for the human body.
According to her, alcohol will do more harm than good to the human body.
Speaking on some of the risk factors that can expose people to breast cancer, she noted that it is important to avoid certain things, including junk food.
“There are modifiable factors, that is, things we can do to reduce our risk of getting breast cancer. One of them is reducing your alcohol intake. I don’t think there is any benefit of alcohol to the human body. All the things they say about the body needing a small amount of alcohol are not true,” she said on GhanaWeb TV’s Health Focus show with Stella Dziedzorm.
Dr. Ntiamoah-Mensah emphasised that “there are a lot of studies that have shown that red wine and alcohol have no cumulative benefits but instead give you a higher risk of certain diseases.”
