Nana Addo Akufo -Addo addressing the gathering
President Nana Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to continue the goods works the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has initiated.
Eulogising the Vice President when he took his thank you to the Western Region yesterday, President Akufo-Addo described the Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP as an honest and very hardworking man.
He said, “Dr. Bawumia is the best man to lead this country and he alone would ensure the continuation of the government’s various social interventions and policies including the free SHS policy.
He has, therefore, cautioned Ghanaians not to make the mistake of voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Mahama since the people would regret if they did so.
“I am appealing to Ghanaians not to vote for Mahama who did not believe in the free SHS policy,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo told the well attended meeting that the NDC’s 24-hour economy is not a policy but rather the outcome of sound economic measures.
He said, “Mahama is not credible and has no policy to improve the people’s living standards. So I am repeating that Ghanaians should not make a mistake to vote for Mahama because they will undo the progress the country had made under the NPP- led administration.
“We are moving forward and we are not going back to bring a failed leader who was rejected by Ghanaians because he failed when he was given the opportunity to lead Ghana,” the President added.
According to him, his administration has achieved significant successes across various sectors of the economy.
“I can say in all good conscience that I have not betrayed the mandate the good people of Ghana conferred on me on two successive occasions”, he noted.
He revealed that in the Western Region, the government has initiated a lot of projects in the areas of health, education and road infrastructure among others.
“All these have been achieved due to the support I received from all of you and by the grace of God,” he said.
“I pray that you continue with the same level of cooperation with my successor, God willing, my Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his dynamic running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly called NAPO”, he added.
“So I came here to give you an account of my stewardship and also to urge you to choose somebody to step into my shoes who is going to carry on the policies that have brought relief, progress and development to our country,” he stated.
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah said the greatest thing that happened to this country is the free SHS policy which has increased enrollment from 13,000 to 65,000.
