A journalist with The Multimedia Group, Clinton Yeboah has been selected among 45 journalists from news media organizations in four countries for the second phase of the Digital Public Infrastructure Journalism Fellowship by the Media Foundation for West Africa and Co-Develop.
Clinton exhibited an interest in prioritizing the discovery of how Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Digital Public Goods (DPG) play out in the ecosystem of communication, identification systems, data and social services in a way that promotes inclusion, accessibility and equitable opportunities.
The chosen journalists will participate in multiple training sessions on DPI/DPGs and receive editorial assistance to produce comprehensive and well-researched stories for publication and broadcast.
The second phase of the Digital Public Infrastructure Journalism Programme builds on the foundation laid in the first edition and aims to further enhance the knowledge and skills of the selected journalists in producing impactful stories on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Digital Public Goods (DPGs) in the four project countries – Benin, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo – and across the West Africa region.
After a well-guided selection process, the 45 fellows, comprising 28 (62%) males and 17 (37%) females, emerged from a pool of 291 applicants for the second phase of the prestigious Fellowship.
Selected Fellows will access a dynamic dedicated DPI/DPGs website that provides more content on DPI/DPGs development in Africa and also features impactful stories produced on DPI/DPGs from across the region. The fellows will also have the opportunity to join an active national and regional network of DPI/DPG Journalism Fellowship Alumni.
Fellows will gain access to a dedicated, dynamic website featuring in-depth content on DPI/DPG development in West Africa and beyond. The site will also showcase impactful stories produced by Fellows from across the region. Additionally, Fellows will be able to join an active, growing network of DPI/DPG Journalism Fellowship alumni at both the national and regional levels.
The Fellowship will run from November 6, 2024, to January 31, 2025, with post-fellowship activities running till April 2025.
The DPI Journalism Fellowship is an initiative of the MFWA and Co-Develop aimed at increasing public awareness and access to information on Digital Public Goods (DPGs).
The fellowship also seeks to promote and ensure that the uptake and adoption of DPI in West Africa is inclusive, safe and equitable. Below is the list of the 45 2024/2025 DPI Journalism Fellows:
