Black Stars forward Mohammed Kudus has been suspended for five matches by the Regulatory Commission of the English Football Association (FA) after being red-carded for a violent incident in West Ham’s match against Tottenham in the league.

The statement released by the FA indicated that Kudus acknowledged he did not act appropriately as a sportsman, which resulted in the three-match suspension being extended to five.

It was stated that the Black Stars attacker was fined £60,000 as part of the punishment to prevent such actions in the future.

“West Ham United and Mohammed Kudus have been sanctioned in relation to incidents during their Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

“It was also alleged that Mohammed Kudus acted in an improper manner and/or used violent conduct after the offence for which he was sent off. The forward admitted to this charge, and he has been given a two-match suspension and a £60,000 fine by the Regulatory Commission,” portions of the statement read.

The English FA also fined West Ham United for their inability to control their players during the incident.

“It was alleged that the club failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way around the 82nd minute. West Ham United admitted to this charge, and an independent Regulatory Commission subsequently fined the club £30,000,” the statement added.

The West Ham forward was sent off following a fiery clash with several Spurs players, including Mickey van de Ven, igniting on-field confrontations that quickly escalated into multiple altercations.

He initially received a yellow card, but after a VAR review, it was upgraded to a red, ruling him out of the following match against Manchester United, which West Ham went on to win surprisingly, 2-1.

Kudus, per the ban, will play for West Ham in their match against Leicester City on December 3, 2024.
