How football organizations, fans are reacting to Trump’s victory

Some sports fans and organizations have hailed Republican candidate Donald Trump after he was declared president-elect of the United States of America (USA).

Among the organizations is the Federation of International Football (FIFA), with their President Gianni Infantino congratulating Trump on his triumph in the 2024 US election and urging him to unite the world through football.

Some sports fans also urged Trump to fulfil his promise of banning men from taking part in women’s sporting events to avoid controversies that arise in various competitions.

Other individuals also advised him to play a significant role in ensuring that sports gain more prominence across the globe.

It is worth noting that the US will host the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup as well.

The reactions come as former President of the United States, Donald Trump, beat Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5, 2024, presidential election.

Media outlets, including CNN, Fox News, and the BBC, placed Trump in a commanding lead after his victories in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, and others.

CNN reports Trump as the winner with 276 electoral votes, with Kamala Harris polling 223 electoral votes.
