Police in Twifo Hemang in the Central Region, have arrested 47-year-old Yaw Ansah for inflicting a machete wound on his 7-year-old son.
Eyewitnesses say the suspect who resides at Sumnyamekodur in the Hemang Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region, attempted chopping off the right wrist of the survivor for failing to run an errand.
The boy was badly injured but was rushed to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital for treatment following which the suspect was apprehended.
According to neighbours, the suspect often assaults his three children at the least provocation.
Speaking to the media, an eyewitness called on the police to ensure the suspect was made to face the law.
“I was here in the house when I heard the man instructing the boy to hack a palm fruit, but the boy said the task was too much for him. He called the boy into the room and we shortly heard the boy screaming.
“We discovered he had slashed the boy’s wrist with a machete. We took him to the hospital for treatment. This is not the first time.
“He chopped off his left finger some time ago. He’s always abusing the children and even threatens to sell them. The police must deal with him.”
