Berekum Chelsea’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Obed Nana Nketia, has been fined GH¢20,000 by the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee following misconduct during a Ghana Premier League game against Asante Kotoko.
The tense match at Golden City Park, which ended in a 1-1 draw, was overshadowed by incidents involving Nana Nketia.
The disciplinary committee of the GFA found Nketia guilty of attempting to forcefully enter the match officials’ dressing room, along with a group of supporters, as well as assaulting a police officer and inciting fans against security personnel.
The fine, payable within 10 days, aims to address what officials have described as unacceptable behaviour that jeopardised the safety of match officials and security staff.
In addition to the fine, Nketia has been cautioned that any further misconduct could lead to harsher penalties.
His actions have drawn significant attention at a time when Berekum Chelsea is performing well, currently sitting in fifth place in the league table after nine matches.
The club and Nketia are yet to publicly respond to the ruling.
