THE MINISTRY of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has received a sum of GH₵1 million from the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC as prize for the 2024 National Best Farmer.

A high-power delegation from the bank, led by its Deputy Managing Director (MD), Eno Ofori-Atta, yesterday, visited the MoFA premises in Accra to make the presentation and expressed their utmost commitment to government’s efforts in improving the lives and livelihoods of farmers.

The ADB Deputy MD expressed the pride of her outfit as the lead sponsor for the 2024 National Farmer’sDay celebration as well as the sole sponsor of the Farmers Forum, an event that brings farmers, fishers and agricultural experts together to brainstorm on contemporary best practices to transition to smart agriculture, and ensure that the sector remains sustainable and profitable.

“We are excited to pledge our sponsorship of GH¢1m to the 2024 National Best Farmer and to reiterate our commitment to continue to enhance our investment in the agricultural sector,” she said.

She added, “We are looking forward to making the pledged amount available to the 2024 National Best Farmer for investment in technologies that would increase productivity and above all, engender adaption to climate-related risks”

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ministry, MoFA Deputy Minister, Yaw Frimpong Addo, expressed the government’s gratitude to the bank for always showing up big when it mattered most to lead efforts at celebrating Ghanaian farmers, saying “Ghanaian farmers are most grateful.”

Ag. Chief Director of MoFA, Paul Siameh, opined that the Ministry is “always assured” by the unique leadership of ADB in funding and sponsoring the annual celebrations.
