Mahama will hold a question and answer session with the IEA
Former President Mahama has opted out of the proposed IEA Presidential Debate and has settled for an interview with the Institute of Economic Affairs.
The IEA, known for organizing presidential debates in the country, announced a few months ago its intention to bring the presidential candidates of two largest political parties, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the ruling New Patriotic Party and John Dramani Mahama, a former President and flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, to the debate table this year.
While Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia welcomed the debate, the NDC vehemently refused to participate.
Former President Mahama, through his public utterances, rejected the calls on him to accept the challenge.
The former President, according to reliable sources, though doesn’t want to debate Dr. Bawumia, he has however come to terms with the institute to hold a Question and Answer (Q&A) session alone.
A flyer currently circulating on social media and purportedly being a confirmation from the IEA indicates Mahama has opted for an evening encounter with the institute on Wednesday, November 6.
Meanwhile, Vice President Bawumia has renewed his challenge to Mahama for a one-on-one debate ahead of December 7 election.
