Election 2024: I’ll build a modern market for Savelugu if elected

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has committed to building an ultramodern market facility in Savelugu, Northern Region, if he wins the presidency in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Mahama emphasized that the proposed market is designed to boost economic activities by providing traders with a structured and spacious environment, positioning Savelugu as a major trading hub in the region.

Speaking at a durbar in Savelugu on Thursday, October 31, Mahama encouraged residents to support the NDC in the forthcoming elections, highlighting his party’s dedication to the development of both rural and urban areas across Ghana.

“There are many things that the NDC has in its manifesto for the people of Ghana. My sister who just spoke, talked about the Women’s Development Bank. We are going to create branches of the Women’s Development Bank everywhere. And one of the places we will create it is in the Savelugu market.

“We are going to modernise the Savelugu market, build a modern market for Savelugu. We have a programme called the Market Enhancement Programme.

“Anytime I pass here on the Savelugu Market Day if you see the number of people at the market, and so it is one of the markets we are going to prioritise, we are going to build a modern market so that people will be attracted to come to Savelugu to come and trade.”
