DCE worry about poor revenue mobilization

By Charles Tawiah

Adugyama (Ash) Oct 31, GNA – Mr Thomas Owusu Ansah, District Chief Executive for Ahafo-Ano South East, has expressed concern over low revenue mobilization in the district.

The district, as of September 2024, was able to collect an amount of GHc 159,596.00, representing only 39.85 per cent of the targeted revenue of GHc 406,400.00.

This, according to Mr Ansah, was a worrying situation and there was the need for all stakeholders, especially the assembly members, Unit committee members and chiefs to support the revenue collectors in their areas to succeed in mobilizing adequate internally generated funds for development.

Mr Ansah was addressing the second ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Adugyama.

He announced that payments of the fourth quarter of 2023 and first quarter of 2024 allocations of the assembly’s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) by the central government, had been made and that had helped to expand payments on 2024 projects and programmes.

He mentioned the completion of Sabronum 40-bed capacity hospital, an agenda 111 project at Adugyama, registration of 263 farmers on phase two of the Planting for Food and Jobs (PfFJ), supply of 40,000 palm and coconut seedlings to farmers under the Local Economic Development (LED) component of the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) programmes, improvement in security, roads and others, as some of the achievements of the Assembly.

The DCE commended the members for their contributions that helped in the achievement of those projects.

Mr Ansah stressed the need for Ghanaians to vote and maintain the government to help in the completion of ongoing programmes and projects for the benefit of the people, especially the youth in the area.
