Mfantsipim School Breaks 10-Year Drought To Win 2024 NSMQ In Nail-biting Final

Mfantsipim Senior High School has emerged victorious in the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz ( NSMQ). This year’s brain-cracking competition was held in the Central Regional Capital of Cape Coast.

In a contest of three giants, Mfantsipim School, St Augustine’s College and Keta Senior High School locked horns in the grand finale.

The ultimate contest of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz lived up to expectations as the three schools kept their supporters on the edge throughout the competition.

According a post on the verified Facebook page of the NSMQ, the first round of the contest saw both Mfantsipim School and St Augustine College garnering twenty-four (24) points each with Keta Senior High School accumulating thirteen (13).

The second round saw the two schools of the Central Region going neck-to-neck, with St Augustine College taking a slim lead. The trend continued in the third and fourth rounds, with St Augustine widening the gap between themselves and Mfantsipim School as Keta sits at the bottom.

At the end of the fourth round, the results were:

St Augustine College- 46 points

Mfantsipim School- 44 points

Keta Senior High School- 26 points

This set the stage for a showdown between the two leading schools. Just like they did in their previous contests against Prempeh College and Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Mfantsipim School came from behind to win the contest.

They could not have done it without the help of Keta Senior High School. Keta answered two of the riddles. Mfantsipim School answered one riddle, helping them leapfrog St Augustine College.

At the end of the contest:

St Augustine College- 44

Mfantsipim School- 47

Keta Senior High School- 32

The victory means Mfantsipim which is the first Senior High School to be constructed in Ghana has now won the trophy for the third time. The last time they won it was in 2014.
