Western Region GWCL rewards two loyal customers

By Emmanuel Gamson

Takoradi, Oct. 29, GNA – The Western Regional office of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has rewarded two of its commercial and domestic customers for their loyalty and prompt payment of their monthly bills to the company.

The commercial customer, Takoradi Mall, and the domestic, Mrs. Agnes Mensah, a resident of Ntankoful in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis both received GWCL customised wall clocks, mugs and tissue papers.

Nana Yaw Barima Barnie, the Acting Chief Western Regional Manager of the GWCL, speaking to the media after presenting the items to the customers, said the gesture formed part of the Company’s policies to celebrate and reward deserving and loyal customers in every month of October.

He said: “It has been our policy that every October will be celebrated as a customer service month, so this year we looked through our records and found out that these two customers pay their monthly bills regularly and in full without leaving any arrears.

“So, we realised that we needed to honour and show them our love and appreciation, and let the whole world know that these are loyal customers who need much commendation.”

The Acting Chief Regional Manager encouraged other institutions and individuals to emulate the good efforts of the two customers and promptly pay their monthly water bills to help enhance the operations of the company.

Nana Barnie stated that GWCL was no longer a subvented organisation and that they depended on bills to run their daily activities, however, non-payment was a challenge to their work.

“We are pleading with our customers to pay their water bills to help us run our day-to-day activities, else a time will come when GWCL will find it difficult to buy chemicals to treat water, fuel and other operational items due to non-payment of water bills,” he added.

Mr Theophilus Quartey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Takoradi Mall, receiving the items on behalf of management, thanked the GWCL for the recognition and said the kind gesture would encourage them to do more.

He said: “We appreciate the gesture, and we think it is a good thing worth emulating. It will encourage us to pay more to ensure that the company continues to deliver on its mandate.”

Mrs Mensah also expressed delight at being recognised by the GWCL as one of their best customers in the region.

She said the items received would motivate her to regularly pay her water bills and encouraged other members of her community to do the same.
