“We Will Not Win Based on Strategy” – NDC’s Alhassan Suhiyini Responds to NPP Accusations

The Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhiyini, has voiced his confidence that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will secure victory in the 2024 general elections, attributing this to the party’s robust past records and strong policy foundation rather than any specific political strategy as reported by MyNewsGH on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

Suhiyini’s comments were a response to statements made by Richard Ahiagba, the Director of Communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

At a recent press conference, Ahiagba claimed that a leaked document from the NDC outlined strategies aimed at helping the party regain political power.

Ahiagba asserted that the NPP had verified the authenticity of this document, which, according to him, shows the NDC’s tactical approach to the elections set for December 7.

In an interview on Ghana Tonight, Suhiyini dismissed Ahiagba’s claims, labeling the alleged document as a fabrication and accusing the NPP of relying on propaganda.

He emphasized that the NDC’s strength lies in its policy track record rather than any elaborate political maneuvering. “The NDC will win the 2024 General elections based on our superior policies, based on our superior past records, and not based on strategy as the NPP claims,” he stated.

According to Suhiyini, the NPP themselves relies on strategy as a fallback, lacking confidence in their own performance on key issues such as financial management and anti-corruption efforts.

He stated, “Even in their heart, they know they can’t win the elections based on their performance or track records, their management of finances in the country, or how they fought corruption. So they want to win based on a strategy by forging a fake document.”

Suhiyini concluded by reiterating that the NDC’s appeal to voters rests on the content of its manifesto, emphasizing that the party will not employ any hidden strategies to win the elections.
