‘I Felt Hands All Over Me’ – Musician Sefa Shares Disturbing Sexual Assault Experience After Show At Kasoa”

In a recent interview on Accra FM with Nana Romeo, Ghanaian music star Sefa opened up about the severe challenges female artists face in the industry, touching on a personal, traumatic experience to drive home the point.

Known for her hit “Echoke,” Sefa didn’t hold back as she recounted an incident in Kasoa where, after stepping off stage, she endured a shocking assault. “Yes, I have been harassed sexually,” she admitted. “After performing at a show in Kasoa and I left the stage, I felt hands all over me… my breasts, my private parts… like men and women touching me. It was so frustrating… that was where I really felt it.”

When asked why people would act this way, Sefa explained that fans might want to get closer to her but overlook the need for boundaries. “They all wanted to see me; however, they should know there have to be boundaries. People shouldn’t take advantage of such opportunities to do that,” she emphasized. Though she’s experienced verbal harassment from afar, this incident left her feeling shaken and vulnerable.

In addition to this disturbing experience, Sefa addressed a broader issue within the Ghanaian music industry, pointing out how much focus is placed on female musicians’ looks over their hard work. “I don’t know about other female artists, but that’s what I’ve noticed,” she remarked. “A lot of Ghanaians forget about the hard work and focus mainly on looks.” For Sefa, this mindset undervalues the dedication and effort that women put into their music.

Now promoting her new single, “All Over,” Sefa hopes that by sharing her story, she can raise awareness about these pressing issues. She advocates for greater respect and appreciation for the talent, effort, and resilience that female artists bring to Ghana’s music scene.
