Residents of Assin Kyiano in the Assin North District of the Central Region are gripped with fear and uncertainty following the deaths of four teenage class 6 students aged between 13 and 15.

The tragic incidents have sent panic through the community and its chiefs, as allegations have arisen that the students died after consuming food bought with stolen ¢2,000.

Central regional correspondent of Angel FM, Shadrack Owusu Asante, provided details on Angel News on October 21, 2024. He revealed that each of the children died from a strange sickness.

According to him, before dying, each child reportedly had a vision and mentioned the next person to die’s name on their sickbed, continuing in that order until four deaths occurred.

The last person was rushed to church for divine intervention.

“According to the issue, when the man found out that his money was missing, he threatened that if the person who had taken the money didn’t bring it back, he would go and invoke a curse.

“So, because of the threat, everyone is accusing him of having cursed those who stole the money. He said that he was just threatening the person who stole the money to bring it back,” Shadrack reported.

According to local reports, the owner of the missing amount, Nana Kwabena Nyarko, who is a Fanti Chief in the community, allegedly invoked the curses in an attempt to recover the missing money.

The report revealed that the grandson of the accused allegedly stole the money and used part of it to buy food, which he shared with his school friends.

“The last person is at a prayer camp at the moment, and he hasn’t mentioned anyone’s name yet. But when the first person fell sick, everyone accused a particular teacher of beating the boy, causing his illness.

“Later, the family took him somewhere and discovered that it was a curse. When he was about to die, he mentioned Jonas’s name and died. Jonas also fell sick, died, and mentioned the third person’s name, who then also died, in that order.

“They have gone to seek the intervention of the river god, which is demanding a cow to avert the curses,” Shadrack stated.

Nana Jatuah, Krontihene of Assin Kyiano, sharing his thoughts on the disturbing events, indicated that the traditional leaders are not only investigating the mysterious deaths to uncover the truth behind the tragic incidents but are also making efforts to pacify the angry gods to cleanse the community and restore peace and tranquility.

Nana Jatuah encouraged parents not to withdraw their wards from the school, assuring them that efforts are far advanced to curb the situation.

Meanwhile, the accused person, Nana Kwabena Nyarko, who is the Fanti Chief, has denied invoking curses.

“According to Nana, he has done no such thing by cursing the children or whoever stole the money,” Shadrack added.
