‘Ghana Outdid Nigeria With Pulse Red Carpet’

Charlie Dior

Ghanaian Stylist and Fashion Critic, Charlie Dior, has applauded the attendees at this year’s Pulse Influencer Awards held last Saturday in Accra for their fashion showmanship.

The event, organised under the theme, “Futuristic Fashion: AI Glamour,” witnessed the gathering of influencers from across the nation to celebrate their remarkable achievements.

In an exclusive interview with NEWSONE, Charlie Dior shared his thoughts and also identified some mishaps regarding the event theme.

“When I think about AI and futuristic-themed fashion, I envision the integration of advanced technology and smart fabrics. Honestly speaking, I didn’t see much of that. Most attendees opted for leather looks that felt more motorcycle-ready than futuristic,” he remarked.

Despite his critiques, Charlie Dior noted that Ghana’s fashion efforts were commendable compared to those of Pulse Nigeria.

“I was surprisingly impressed with the fashion at Pulse Influencer Awards Ghana. While I expected to see wearable technology and bold, science-inspired designs, we did see some effort,” he said.

Charlie Dior highlighted a few standout looks from the night, stating, “Made in Ghana was one of the best dressed for me; the melted fabric top paired with high-waist flare leather pants was simple yet striking.

“Wesley Kesse also made an impression, especially with his face mask that added a touch of AI flair.”

He praised the hosts, Jay Foley and Abena Soreno, for their stylish choices, particularly Abena Soreno’s aluminium-textured dress.

While expressing his admiration for the efforts displayed on the red carpet, Charlie Dior lamented his lack of recognition by Pulse Ghana.

“For the past three years, I’ve made a significant impact in red carpet fashion, yet I’ve never been nominated for any awards. Many stars reached out to me before the event, eager for my feedback, as nobody wants to end up on the worst-dressed list,” he stated, “My influence is undeniable. Whether you like it or not, it’s everywhere.”
