It wasn’t just an accident; your son was reckless

Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, has slammed Bishop Salifu Amoako, General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Ministry, for his recent comments.

Addressing the issue during church service on Sunday, October 20, 2024, Salifu Amoako expressed his frustration over the widespread attention his son’s accident has received.

According to him, what happened was purely an accident as his son didn’t set out to kill anybody.

In a video posted on X by CITI FM and sighted by GhanaWeb, Bishop Amoako stated that “It was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to go and kill somebody. My son involved himself in a terrible accident. I was not the one who did it. Neither his mother.”

The pastor said this, attributing the issue’s attention to his popularity.

“It is because of my name, that is why the thing is going everywhere. If this car had hit an Okada, who is going to mention it? It is just because of my name. So, let’s see what the Lord will do,” he remarked.

However, Dr. Boakye-Danquah has expressed his disgust in response to the man of God’s comments.

Speaking on JoyNews AM Show on Monday, October 21, 2024, he said the man of God’s youngest son, Elrad Salifu Amoako, drove recklessly, which led to the deaths of two young girls, plunging their families and Ghanaians into a state of mourning.

He further added that the man of God’s rhetoric is a slap in the face of Ghanaians.

“If you say your son did not pick a gun to kill anyone… your son was reckless and I do not even call this an accident because on the road that the accident happened, you must be driving at 20KM/H. This is a splash in the face of every Ghanaian who is mourning in this very situation. This is an unfortunate statement,” he said.

Dr. Boakye-Danquah advised Salifu Amoako to refrain from engaging with the public over the incident in order to avoid aggravating and provoking public anger.

“It gets closer and closer because this has become a big issue that has hit every Ghanaian and even in the diaspora. It is a very reckless incident that happened. I will admonish Salifu Amoako to desist from public engagement,” he added.

Bishop Salifu Amoako has come under intense backlash from Ghanaians over his comments which have been deemed as insensitive.
