From L: Troy Millings, Chakabars, Alvin Bekoe, Kwame Blay and Rashad Bilal

In a move to bridge the gap between Africa and its Diaspora, Earn Your Leisure co-founders, Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, activist, Chakabars, and Ghanaian developers, Alvin Bekoe, Kwame Blay and Tuyee Yeboah, have announced the launch of a 300-acre housing project in Accra, Ghana.

This initiative, Sanbra City Project, aims at offering modern, sustainable housing options that reconnect the Diaspora with their African roots.

The first phase of this ambitious project, christened ‘The Cascades’, spans 30 acres and features competitively priced luxury homes and community-driven amenities.

Construction is already underway with a total of 421 residential and 24 commercial units expected to be completed by October 2027.

Located 15 minutes from the Kotoka International Airport, this project is uniquely positioned to attract both locals and the Diaspora.

A 2-bedroom unit apartment is going from $180,000, 4-bedroom townhouses from $275,000 and 5-bedroom villas from $450,000.

The Cascades offers a wide array of amenities, including a community center with a pool, sports facilities, bicycle lanes, a grocery mart, and shared workspaces. These features make it more than just a residential development— it’s a hub for community and connectivity.

A Bold Diaspora Call

The Earn Your Leisure team and Chakabars have been vocal advocates of reconnecting African descendants with the continent, and this project is the latest manifestation of that vision.

By partnering with Ghanaian developers, they aim to create opportunities for the diaspora to invest in Africa, contribute to its economy, and establish a tangible connection with their heritage.

“Our vision is to create a sustainable and thriving community that does not only address the housing deficit but also invite people from the Diaspora to come home and invest in their future,” said Kwame Blay, Project Lead at Sanbra City.

Financing / Strategic Partnerships

The project has secured financing through EPC+F contracts and partnerships with Plotus Investments Limited, Turkish company ARSAN Group and financial institutions like Stanbic Bank Ghana and First National Bank, offering discounted mortgages to make home ownership accessible. With over 300 potential buyers already secured during Investfest 2024, the interest in this development is undeniable.

Sustainability / Future Growth

Sanbra City and its development partner Terraform Development Limited are committed to using sustainable building practices. By 2027, the project is expected to be fully completed, with over 500 residential and commercial units spread across four phases.
