Prof. Smart Sarpong, a Senior Researcher, says the decision of some NPP MPs to go independent can affect the party’s victory in Election 2024.
Agona West MP Cynthia Morrison and Suhum constituency MP Kwadwo Asante are contesting as independent candidates in the upcoming December 7 election. Efforts reportedly made by the party to change their minds have proved futile.
Speaking on the ‘Kokrokoo’ programme on Peace FM, Prof. Sarpong stated: “From where I sit, what Cynthia and others are doing is the only reason why the NPP might lose. If everybody who voted for the NPP in 2020 votes again in 2024, natural order will mean they’ll remain in power; it’s balanced.”
