SSNIT takes SEED campaign to Obuasi
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) recently took its Self-Employed Enrolment Drive (SEED) campaign to the streets of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
This initiative aims to encourage self-employed workers to join the pension scheme, providing them with a secure financial future.
As part of the 2024 Second Half Year SEED Activation, dubbed “Operation-A-Thon,” SSNIT officials walked through Obuase’s principal streets to raise awareness about the benefits of SEED.
They engaged with market women and other self-employed individuals, who welcomed the message with enthusiasm.
Mr. Joseph Poku, Chief Actuary for SSNIT, urged self-employed individuals to enroll in the pension scheme, emphasizing that SEED is designed to provide a better retirement package.
He assured that SSNIT is committed to supporting pensioners and prioritizing its partners.
Some traders and self-employed individuals who joined the walk praised SSNIT for sensitizing them about SEED.
They encouraged others to enrol now and secure their future.
The SEED initiative has already shown success in other regions, with over 120,00 self-employed across Ghana registering as SSNIT members.
Similar campaigns have been held in Techiman, Takoradi, and Wa, promoting the benefits of the pension scheme to self-employed workers.
