Didi Dramani explains absence of Asante Kotoko players from Black Galaxies camp ahead of CHAN qualifier

Black Galaxies head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has shed light on why Asante Kotoko players were not part of the national team’s screening program ahead of the CHAN qualifier against Nigeria.

Addressing the situation, Dramani explained that the initial call-up included some players from the Porcupine Warriors, but scheduling conflicts prevented their attendance.

“The initial call-up had Asante Kotoko players in Group 2, but they had an outstanding match to clear against Nsoatreman, so they couldn’t come,” Dramani noted in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com.

“From October 7th to 9th, they were also unavailable due to their trip to the USA.”Despite the absence of these key players during the screening, the coach emphasized that the team is keeping track of their progress.

“I have made the necessary room to continue the monitoring of players across the leagues. I also spoke with some of the Kotoko players, so at the appropriate time, they will get the chance to be part of the team.

“Dramani highlighted that team building is a gradual and meticulous process. “It’s a work in progress and a comprehensive team-building process,” he added, expressing confidence that the squad will be strengthened ahead of their crucial qualifier against Nigeria.

The Black Galaxies are gearing up for a critical two-legged clash against Nigeria in the WAFU B qualifiers, with the aim of securing their spot in the 2025 CHAN tournament, which will take place across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Ghana’s first leg against Nigeria is scheduled for December 20-22, 2024, with the return leg set for December 27-29, 2024.

The Black Galaxies previously eliminated Nigeria on penalties to qualify for the 2023 CHAN tournament in Algeria after a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.
