The Ghana Police Service has declared wanted a man identified as Fatau Motorway, who was caught on video footage wielding a weapon during the recent disturbances between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Mamobi in Accra.
This development comes as tensions between the two parties continue to escalate.
Background of the Disturbances
The NPP and NDC have been embroiled in a series of clashes in recent times, with the latest incident occurring at Mamobi.
The violence has raised concerns about the ability of the two parties to coexist peacefully, especially as the country gears up for general elections.
The Police Investigation
The Ghana Police Service has released images of Fatau Motorway and is urging members of the public to provide credible information to aid in his arrest and that of other perpetrators.
The police have assured that they will continue to conduct intelligence-led operations to bring those responsible to justice.
“The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) plays a crucial role in investigating complaints against police officers and ensuring that the Ghana Police Service adheres to international standards.The PPSB is responsible for monitoring compliance with human rights and democratic policing principles,” the Police said in a statement.
