NDC Unity Walk turns violent, four injured in Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira

By Isaac Arkoh

Cape Coast, Oct. 15, GNA – Four supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) sustained serious injuries during a violent ambush on party members participating in a Unity Walk in the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency of the Central Region.

Fortunately, no fatalities were reported as the victims received prompt treatment at local hospitals.

The attack, reportedly carried out by unknown assailants, targeted the NDC parliamentary candidate Mr Seth Agyapong Mensah.

Mr John Kobi, the NDC’s Communication Officer for the area, said the Unity Walk was disrupted by a suspected group that had defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after losing the Parliamentary primary.

The attackers armed with cutlasses and stones caused chaos among the peace walkers before fleeing.

He said the police had since, launched a manhunt for the perpetrators and urged party supporters to remain calm as they cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice was served.
