Ghana’s struggles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers continued as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against Sudan at the Martyrs of February Stadium on matchday four.
Coach Otto Addo made just one change to the starting lineup, bringing in Inaki Williams to replace Jordan Ayew. However, the Black Stars started sluggishly and nearly conceded early before Gideon Mensah’s attempt in the third minute was blocked.
Sudan’s Abo Eisa came close to opening the scoring with a curling shot in the first half, but the effort was tipped away for a corner.
Ghana appeared to find a breakthrough after halftime when Inaki Williams scored, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
In the 52nd minute, Abo Eisa once again threatened, narrowly missing a close-range chance. Sudan’s pressure finally paid off in the 62nd minute when Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud capitalized on a defensive error to put the Falcons of Jediane ahead.
Just three minutes later, Mohammed Abdelrahman doubled Sudan’s lead, beating Mohammed Salisu and firing into the net.
The match ended 2-0 in favor of Sudan, who now sit on seven points in Group F, while Ghana remains with just two points, deepening their qualification woes.
