IGP Dampare is sleeping on his job – Security consultant

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare

Richard Kumadoe, a security consultant, has expressed worry over the recent silence of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, on the security of the country.

While reacting to the recent violence that happened in Mamobi during the weekend, Richard Kumadoe stated that the IGP needs to be active again due to the recent clashes happening in the country.

“IGP Dampare predominantly has been too relaxed for my liking. Ever since he was given a subordinate as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Charge of Operations, he has relaxed. He needs to arise, looking at the clashes happening and how people are a bit high,” he urged.

He referred to the Walewale clashes during the re-run of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary.

There was a report that an individual snatched a ballot box during the vote sorting.

According to him, if the IGP refuses to take action, show visibility and aggressiveness, and make sure perpetrators are brought to book, then the police will have a long fight on their hands.

Richard Kumadoe further added that the police will have to put some steps in place to arrest people who are in possession of unlicensed guns to prevent future implications of actions from these people who hide behind political parties to misbehave.
