Dzolo-Kpuita (V/R), Oct. 15, GNA – The Ho West District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has inaugurated a 23-member Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) for the Elections 2024.
The Committee was to help foster constructive dialogue and collaboration among political parties in the Ho West Constituency, focusing on issues likely to undermine the peace of the district.
Addressing the participants at Dzolo-Kpuita in the Ho West District of the Volta Region on the theme: “Together we can build Ghana, so get involved”.
Mr Dodzi Adjei, the District Director of NCCE, emphasised the critical role of the Committee in advocating for peace before, during and after the December 7 polls.
He said they are to identify and counter false information that had the tendency to undermine the electoral process, encourage religious and political tolerance, and avoid hate speech and incitement.
The District Director urged the political parties to use their platforms to promote peace and unity.
Mr Adjei also advised them to adhere to the Public Order Act, Act 491, by notifying the Police whenever they wanted to embark on any activity.
Sergeant Manfred Asempapah, who represented the Ho West District Police Commander, assured residents of the provision of maximum security, to ensure safe and incident-free polls in the Constituency.
Madam Kafui Randolph, the District Electoral Officer, Ho West, briefed the participants on the Commission’s preparation towards the polls and assured of accurate information sharing to prevent mis and disinformation.
She charged the political parties to adhere to the Electoral Code of Conduct and work closely with the Commission to ensure free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections.
Rev. Emmanuel Agbo, the IPDC Chairman, called for collaborative efforts from all members to ensure peace and harmony.
