The Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has cautioned supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Gomoa Central constituency against the increasingly prevalent practice of voting “skirt and blouse.” This term refers to the phenomenon where voters select a presidential candidate from one party while choosing a parliamentary candidate from another.
Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd of over a thousand artisans at Gomoa Abonyi, Dr. Forson emphasized the importance of cohesive voting for the NDC, urging constituents to back both President John Dramani Mahama and the party’s parliamentary candidate, Kwame Deen Yawson. He underscored that unified support is crucial for harnessing the untapped potential within the constituency. “We need the right representation in Parliament to bring about the development this area desperately needs,” he asserted, rallying his audience to recognize the benefits of supporting the NDC ticket in its entirety.
Dr. Forson expressed his concerns regarding the consequences of split-ticket voting, stating, “I am the Minority Leader in Parliament, and I am here to tell you that don’t make a mistake in voting skirt and blouse in the upcoming election. You have a good candidate, and you must vote for him. So he will come and support the good works we are doing in Parliament.” His message resonated with the audience as he outlined the need for a strong parliamentary presence to support ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing the region’s development.
Accompanying Dr. Forson during his campaign tour is the NDC’s National Communication Officer, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi. Together, they are focused on galvanizing support for both Mahama and the NDC’s parliamentary candidates across the Central Region. With just 54 days remaining until the elections, their tour has included strategic meetings and discussions with chiefs, various community groups, and the broader NDC membership.
