Prophet Bempah Addresses Pastor Otabil’s Criticism of His Prophetic Office with a Strong Statement

Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah has reacted passionately to Pastor Mensa Otabil’s attack on the prophetic ministry. Founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries Prophet Bempah, readdressed the issue during a church service last Sunday, warning Pastor Otabil not to cross the road into the way of the prophets.

This discussion between the two influential religious personalities in Ghana was a follow-up to comments reportedly made by Pastor Otabil, head of the International Central Gospel Church, that appeared to question the genuineness of some prophetic ministries in the country. Owusu Bempah, however, reaffirmed the need for mutual respect among men of God-acknowledging their respective divine callings-while addressing the critical nature of Pastor Otabil’s comments.

I have great respect for Pastor Mensah Otabil,” Prophet Owusu Bempah said. “He is a man I believe has been genuinely called by God, and he is one of the most influential men of God in our nation today. His teachings are powerful, and there is a heavy anointing on him. But just as I am not perfect, he is also not perfect. We are all serving the same God.

Bempah emphasized in his message that the prophetic office needed to be given all the respect due to the pastoral and teaching ministries. He indicated that God still raised prophets as He did in the Bible through figures such as Elijah, Moses, and Noah. “If Pastor Mensa Otabil respects his teaching office, I, Owusu Bempah, also respect my prophetic office,” he said.

In an even sharper part of his letter, Prophet Bempah referred to a past controversy involving Pastor Otabil where the pastor was allegedly linked to financial mismanagement. He referred to that incident as proof that different people can act in various ways according to their prejudice. “When the issue with Pastor Mensah Otabil came up and made headlines, we all prayed for him. But if it had been me in that situation, I would probably have ended up in jail. The same God we serve is the same God who judges us all.”

The above interchange between these two men of God has been described as an olive branch plea for unity and understanding among Ghana’s Christian fraternity; Prophet Bempah reminded the faithful to be measured in criticism, considering that sometimes such affects God’s servants.
