Global InfoAnalytics’ First National Tracking Poll Predicts Mahama’ Lead ahead of upcoming Elections

In a recent poll unveiled by Global InfoAnalytics, the political landscape of Ghana ahead of the 2024 elections is beginning to take shape. Conducted via telephone between October 7 and October 12, 2024, the poll reflects growing support for former President John Dramani Mahama over his main rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The findings suggest that Mahama could secure a first-round victory, with a runoff election appearing increasingly unlikely.

The poll, which surveyed 1,569 respondents across Ghana’s 16 regions, was designed with a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of ±2.47%. The results revealed that 53.1% of respondents expressed support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by Mahama, while 39% favored the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its candidate, Bawumia. Other political figures, including Nana Kwame Bediako and Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, garnered 5.2% and 1.7% support, respectively, with only 1% identifying as floating voters.

A representative from Global InfoAnalytics commented on the significance of these numbers, noting, “Given the current trajectory, a runoff seems very unlikely this year.” This assessment underscores the growing confidence in Mahama’s ability to secure a clear win, based on current voter sentiments.

According to Ghana web, The survey’s methodology involved random phone calls to self-identified party members, capturing a broad view of Ghana’s political affiliations. However, the polling firm acknowledged a potential skew in the data, as female respondents were reportedly less inclined to participate. This observation highlights the importance of ensuring representative sampling in future surveys to fully capture the electorate’s mood.

As the election date approaches, Global InfoAnalytics will provide weekly tracking updates every Monday until November 18, 2024. These updates are expected to reflect any shifts in voter sentiment as campaign strategies evolve and voter engagement intensifies.
