The Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC), an organiser of the prayer walk against illegal mining (galamsey) has announced plans to intensify its sensitisation efforts in the ongoing fight against galamsey.
This initiative aims to complement the government’s efforts and engage communities at the grassroots level.
Reverend Father Nicholas Nibetol Aazine, the JPIC Coordinator, emphasised the importance of a collective approach to tackling the galamsey menace.
Speaking on the new strategy in an interview with Citi News on Friday, October 11, he stated “We will rally again and find another way. This time around, probably we may go to the grassroots, talk to the chiefs, talk to the young people in the area.”
“As the government is also doing its bit, this is not a fight, or this is not a work just for the government, it is for all of us.”
He noted that the prayer walk went well with many resonating with their message.
“The feedback was good we feel our message was well received. When we got to the entrance of Christ the King, we met one of the staffers and we received a message on behalf of the president we expressed how we wished the country or the things that were happening would change and we were very happy,” he stated.
