Kwasi Appiah eyes ‘big victory’ over Ghana on Tuesday

Sudan head coach, James Kwasi Appiah, national football team, has set his sights on a big win against Ghana in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier next week.

Sudan is preparing to face the Black Stars in the return leg of their Group F fixture on Tuesday, October 15, after holding Ghana to a goalless draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the first encounter, despite Ghana dominating possession and creating more chances, Sudan’s resilience saw them escape with a crucial point.

Reflecting on the match, Kwesi Appiah acknowledged the difficulty of the game but praised his team for their determination and defensive strength.

“Yesterday, Sudan played against Ghana. It was a difficult game but we managed to fight to get a draw,” Coach Kwasi Appiah said.

Looking ahead to the reverse fixture in Benghazi, the Sudanese coach emphasised his team’s determination to go one step further and secure a decisive victory against the Black Stars.

While he acknowledged that the upcoming match will be challenging, he expressed confidence that his side will give their all to win.

“We are now going to play the return leg in Benghazi. It’s not going to be easy but Inshallah we are going to fight and make sure we get a big victory for Sudan,” he added.

The Sudanese team will be banking on their home advantage in the upcoming clash, hoping to boost their chances of securing a place in the 2025 AFCON tournament.

Meanwhile, Ghana, led by their head coach, Otto Addo, will also be aiming for a strong performance to stay on track in the qualifiers.
