Lecturer and communications consultant, Prof. Etse Sikanku, has credited Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia with significantly reducing the politics of insults and indecency in the country.

Speaking at the review of his book “Dr. Bawumia and the Modern Vice Presidency” at the Islamic University on Friday, Prof. Sikanku said that throughout his political life, and now as a Presidential Candidate, Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated “remarkable” decency in his campaign and public engagements.

This, he observed, has significantly contributed to reducing tension in the country.

“Dr. Bawumia is a decent politician and he has demonstrated that consistently throughout his political career, and more importantly, as a Presidential Candidate,” Prof. Sikanku said.

“He conducts himself decently and communicates effectively. Even when provoked, he does not resort to insults, and this has greatly reduced tension.”

“His decency has also transformed the political landscape of the country because the leader’s actions and tone are very important.”

Prof. Etse Sikanku also praised Dr. Bawumia as a hardworking leader who gets the job done, highlighting several impactful initiatives that Bawumia has led despite being in the limited role of Vice President.

Having conducted extensive research on Vice Presidential roles in Ghana and the United States, Prof. Sikanku rated Dr. Bawumia as the most impactful Vice President Ghana has ever had.

He compared Dr. Bawumia to the celebrated former US Vice President, Walter Mondale, who is credited with redefining the role of a US Vice President, which was largely ceremonial before him.
