More than twenty-seven companies and individuals in the private sector have been honored for their significant contributions to the growth and development of the country across various sectors of the economy at the 2024 Ghana Industry and Manufacturing Awards held in Accra.

The private sector, which is the largest employer in Ghana, accounting for a significant portion of both the formal and informal sectors, reechoed the need to increase the patronage of locally made products as a vital strategy for expanding the country’s economy.

Industry leaders from various sectors emphasized the importance of supporting domestic manufacturing to boost economic growth, generate employment, and reduce dependency on imports at the Ghana Industry Forum and Awards.

The 2024 Ghana Industry and Manufacturing ceremony honored institutions that have demonstrated innovation, resilience, and a commitment to excellence in the face of global economic challenges.

Among the top awardees were companies in the agribusiness, manufacturing, and technology sectors that have significantly contributed to Ghana’s industrial landscape. Several award recipients on the night used the platform to advocate for greater local support.

“We are proud to be one of the companies producing world-class products right here in Ghana.

“The time has come for Ghanaians to believe in the quality of their own goods and services,” one awardee from the Poultry Industry of Ghana stated. According to the event executive of Imperial Communications, Mr. Abeiku Sam Bilson praised the private sector for its role in driving economic transformation through investment and innovation.

“We must champion our own, and I urge Ghanaians to choose local products in all spheres of life,” he said.

As Ghana seeks to transition into a more industrialized economy, the call to support local products resonates not only as a strategy for economic growth but also as a movement towards national pride and self-reliance.

This year’s awards were on the theme “Excellence in Industries and Manufacturing: Setting the Standard for Quality and Efficiency.”
